Celebration of 125yrs of inauguration of girls' school by Holy Mother Sri Sarada Devi 1t 16 Bosepara Lane13 November 2023 was celebrated as 125th anniversary of 13 November 1898 with a short cultural programme to observe the day when Holy Mother Sri Sarada Devi herself inaugurated the Girls’ school started by Sister Nivedita at 16 Bosepara Lane, Baghbazar.
The programme began at 9 am with lamp lighting by Most Revered Swamis Balabhadrananda, Bodhasarananda, Tattwavidananda and other senior monks from the Belur Math amidst Vedic chanting by the inmates from different centres of Sri Sarada Math and RKSM. Swami Nityamuktananda and senior monks (around 25) of the Ramakrishna Order from various centres like Mayer Badi, Balaram Mandir, Baranagar, Institute of Culture at Gol Park, Swami Vivekananda's Ancestral House and Cultural Centre paid floral tribute to the Holy Mother. They all visited the Sister Nivedita Heritage Museum with keen interest.
Most Revered Pravrajika Jnanadaprana, Assistant General Secretary, Sri Sarada Math and RKSM, also offered flowers to the Mother accompanied by Vedic chanting by inmates. Floral offerings to the Mother were made by one and all, which included about 400 students and guardians of RKSM Sister Nivedita Girls’ School and 400 devotees. Lalita-sahasra-nama chanting maintained the pious atmosphere of the occasion.
The incidents of 13 November 1898 were shared with all in Bengali by Pravrajika Kripamayaprana. This was followed by readings from the Kathamrita and Mayer Kotha by Pravrajika Aptakamaprana. Sm Sudeshna Sengupta sang devotional songs accompanied by her instrumentalists. Sm Mita Nag, with a percussionist, enthralled the audience by her scintillating Sitar recital. Next was Kali Kirtan, sung by Pravrajikas Vedarupaprana, Dhyanavrataprana and Mokshakamaprana. Sm Jayasree Das and her group of nine, sang Rabindra Sangeet, best befitting the occasion. After this musical session, readings both in English and Bengali were presented, namely, – Sister Nivedita’s letter to the Holy Mother (dated 11 December 1910), Swami Vivekananda’s poem to Sister Nivedita (dated 22 September 1900) and extracts from Swami Vivekananda’s Bengali letters to his brother disciples from America circa 1894, glorifying the Holy Mother Sri Sarada Devi by Pravrajika Sivalokaprana and others.
The programme concluded at 2 pm with a musical dedication to the Mother and the entire programme was conducted by Sm Angona Roy and Sm Rikta Modak. Prasad boxes were served to about 400.
